I see. Even though the auto-assign you mention would work for me, I get why it’s not perfect. A workaround could be to allow bulk edit of the club statistics setting + make it possible to add/change it when uploading a new file with players.

After a bit of searching I found this thread: https://wordpress.org/support/topic/player-statistics-not-updating/page/2/. It’s more than 10 months old and there doesn’t seem to be a solution yet. This is honestly something that might mean I won’t buy the pro version. For such an amazing plugin with an abundance of features, it seems strange that the most basic of things (showing player stats) is such an issue.
For a single team this is no issue, but when you’re managing a league with +300 players, it’s an issue. Importing the players takes 5 seconds, but actually getting the stats to work takes several hours.Hope you’ll consider pushing a fix soon, rather than implementing new features – I’d almost go as far as saying the current design is a bug.

How I’d expect it to work:
Club for current season is automatically selected based on the current team of the player.
Club for previous seasons are automatically selected based on current on past teams: 1. if no past teams, use current team, 2. If one past team, use past team, 3. if multiple past teams, manual selection will be required.
For career total, the total (everything) should be selected by default.
