update: the upgrade to 2.7.1 seems to have fixed things

Will now install my wordpress updater plugin and stay uptodate more frequently

Not getting email notification i didnt realise i’d had a reply!
I got it sorted in the end by using the official gravatars plugin from gravatar.com
It seems to be working very well using that combined with the css from skippy’s readme (though i’ve done some alterations)
Don’t know why one plugin works for some and not others. Seems to depend on the theme.
