In reply to: Cannot change permalink/slug "-2" appendThe page name references the ID of a resume/file to be displayed on the site, I believe. I’m not involved in the process which determines the name of the pages, but this error was pointed out to me earlier this afternoon by those who are, and after pulling a considerable amount of hair out I’m completely stuck as to why WP won’t let me make this change.

That’s my thought. There is nothing at all in the trash though, and the database doesn’t have any records of the original page.
This is a page. The only post is the “hello world” that comes with it.

The page title in this case is mysite.com/05240113161205. When visiting mysite.com/05240113161205, however, the site somehow automatically redirects me to mysite.com/05240113161205-2 instead of giving me a 404 for the nonexistent page.
Truly strange.

That normally works, but it isn’t happening here. There is not another copy in the trash, and even after editing and hitting OK it still adds the “-2” back. Bypassing “OK” and clicking “Update” instead also fails. There is no category, file, post, or other page with the same title. In fact, the only instance of the page title in the entire WP database is the page I’m trying to fix, and even in the db it has the “-2” added. Even editing it directly via phpmyadmin does not fix the page – upon refeshing it, the “-2” is back again.

I had originally successfully created the page with the proper permalink, but moved it into the trash, then emptied the trash. Upon recreating the page I can no longer use the original permalink under any circumstances.
I applied your patch to WP 3.1.1, and it didn’t fix it. Emails aren’t sent on comment reply.

For me GTranslate isn’t an acceptable alternative. The translations are really sloppy and I can’t use my own texts for the different languages.
Too bad the author of qTranslate doesn’t want to answer…

I tried submitting a bug report but that doesn’t work either -> Nothing happens after I select the “submit bug report” menu item -> There is no form to enter what I’ve found out etc. Oh well… to bad that Frederick Townes doesn’t want to answer although he seems to be active here.Tim

This is a serious issue to me and I love (and must use) both plugins. qTraslate is a very popular plugin to enable us webmasters to create website in multiple languages…
