Check out the plugin Clutter-Free, I’m not shure, but I think it will do the job. You can even hide the whole dashboard and put in your own code 😀
Wow, seems like wer’e working on something very similar: proomoo.
For now I’m using PageLime to let the bands edit the pages themselves. I’m not using wordpress for it now, but I wan’t to use wordpress mu (multi user) to let whoever sign up to make their own proomoo page and replace the standard wpmu dashboard with something like PageLime’s wysiwyg cms.

I forgot to tell you that I use the multi user version of wordpress (of course), but thats not what this is about. This is about turning the dashboard into a wysiwyg cms. Not with the possibility to move things around, but to change the images and text, like pagelime.
