In reply to: main navigation menu (left side) missing gone blankCurious… is it possible for the theme to affect display of the WP backend?

In reply to: main navigation menu (left side) missing gone blankI think it was 3 or a version of 3.
I think I do have a backup. It’s zipped, so did not look. Created it in June apparently.
I am unable to get to http://mysite.com/wp-admin right now. It never loads.
Should I try, in this order:
1. renaming the plugins folder
2. try a manual upgrade in case the last one was incomplete
3. try reinstalling the backup (seems like the hardest option)All advice most welcome!
Thanks very much!Did you find that because you’re good with PHP? Or do you know a good search trick for this forum that you could share?
Because I’m having another big problem with one of my blogs, namely that the entire left panel that should display the WP controls, is missing. No access to Post, Appearance, Settings, etc. etc. The whole left side is blank.
Am not finding the solution, and maybe you know a good way to find it???
Hate to tell you this, but I had to rebuild the whole site. I never found any other solution. I decided to rebuild when I realized that I could have rebuilt the site in the amount of time I spent trying to find the answer. Maybe you can find a solution, but I never did.

In reply to: Some posts excerpted, others notThanks again.
The problem started after I upgraded to 3.13. It wasn’t happening before, and I didn’t change anything in something like The Loop.
Does that matter, I wonder…

In reply to: Some posts excerpted, others notThanks. That’s not it.
It appears any post that has text in the excerpt window (on the WP back-end Post page) is truncated (on the published front-end page) to just the excerpt.
But I think it shouldn’t do this, since Reading Settings is set to “Full Text” and the More tag is not used.

In reply to: ??? List Post Titles On A Page – Limit Access To ListTo clarify:
Some registered users are bloggers. All they do is write blogs.
Other registered users read blogs. That’s all they do. Read blogs.
We need a way to automatically generate a list of the titles of some of our Blogger-members’ blogs.
We need these titles lists to display on front-end pages so logged-in Reader-members can see them.
We also need each Bloggers’ titles list to be accessible only by some Reader-members, but not by other Reader-members. That is: control access to what lists a Reader-member can see.
The title lists need to be updated whenever a blogger posts a new blog.
Is this possible in WordPress?
Please forgive the use of upper case. It’s to distinguish my words of this question from the examples of the problem.

In reply to: blogs categoriesNot sure what you’re asking, but…
you can create categories with the Categories tool under Post.
When you create a post, you can assign it to one or more of the categories you created.

In reply to: How to create a static image on every pageNot sure, but maybe you could do it with the theme?
Or a style sheet that you could use for every page and post you create.
? not sure…

In reply to: Why is my footer text hanging weirdly in the BG (right side)Anybody out there?
Any ideas?

In reply to: Footer is hanging in the side of the backgroundI pasted the HTML of the footer in to the message window of this help forum in order to show the code itself, but it displays the links as finished text instead of the raw HTML.
Maybe the raw HTML doesn’t show the cause of the problem anyway.
In case it could, though, I’ll take out the first < bracket in front of a href for each link.
