I got lucky because I do not have Photon by Jetpack enabled… It was merely a CSS custom tagging with the Jetpack Image Widger that Ryan helped me with that was an issue with the 4.4 upgrade. So mine went right in.
What you might try doing is starting a new topic/thread for yourself and ask about a possible photo glitch with regard to the WP4.4 update. There have been some issues the 4.4 and plug-ins. So im sure that if you start a thread, one of the Jetpack crew will get back to you! 😉
They probably see this as “resolved” and not get back to you. Wishing you luck and a Happy New Year…

So I did what you found above and removed the line in the editor in the header.php The great thing is that I didn’t have to add the additional code in its place and everything now is back to the way it was before I updated. Now everything seems fresh again 🙂
I still believe it was little glitches relating to the 4.4 update and many plug-ins, and themes were affected. Luckily there are some quick fixes like these! I know edit in my child theme..

Thanks so much.. the hand holding REALLY helps! 🙂 So before I do this, do you recommend creating a child theme first? And making the edits to that vs directly in the parent theme? (this I read up on a little.. )
But these instructions seem simple enough to apply. I will start by enabling the Jetpack settings! Thanks SO MUCH for the help, cant tell you how much I appreciate this! 🙂 Hope to hear back real quick about the Child Theme… I think I’m prepared to set one up, if its recommended!

I do hate to confess this, but I am a TOTAL newbie at all this and I have no idea where to add this in Custom CSS:) 🙂 Would you mind terribly directing me where to add this code?? OH– are you mentioning the “CSS Stylesheet Editor?? If so, where might I add that?

What I did to change the favicon was go to your “customize” menu in your dashboard or the very top left of your web page with the paint brush (if you are signed in as admin) Click it
Under Site Identity click that and you can add/remove an image for your site icon/favicon!Hope that works!

I hope you dont mind the intrusion here @arrrow, but I am also using Hemingway, and I think I have the same issue. In my browser tab, after just upgrading to WP 4.4, my site title went away and now its the URL “http://—“. All other pages and posts are still the same! (which is good) Just the “home” page changed in the browser tab in Firefox.
So Did you just remove that line in the editor or did you replace it with something else. Another poster said it happened to them, but in another theme and they replaced it with other coding after removing. (I too have suggested to make a child theme now that I have updated to 4.4) Hope you help!
