Hi, thanks for your response. I did empty the trash, and I think that might have helped, bc after many many tries, the deleted subscribers have stayed deleted. I also went through each one and removed them from all lists, then deleted again, which might have also helped, I’m not sure, but it is worth trying.
BTW, We don’t use the membership feature in WordPress. Commenting is completely disabled. Too much SPAM. The only “WordPress User” is myself.
    Thanks, again.

Whew! Thanks for your quick reply. I was hoping that this was the case. Have a happy holiday.

Hi, Pim. I agree, it can be very useful to have the email domains changed if you are migrating your site to a new domain, but it can be problematic if your email domain doesn’t change along with your site domain. So, having the option to choose is great. Thanks for your clarification.

It’s a mystery. I use Wordfence, too, and I received the same notice. If you scroll down your image you will see there is a link in WF to “see how this file has changed.” It will show you a before and after. I did this and concluded that the change was the result of an update
In the first instance, shortcodes-ultimate.php was changed on line 9
Text Domain: shortcodes-ultimate was changed to Text Domain: su
in the next instance the readme.txt file was changed, and you can see that it says the Text Domain change was part of the last updates. What I don’t get is that the modified files in my site seem to be undoing the changes made by the update.
These changes were all made 28 days 7 hours ago from the time of this writing.
I seem to have reverted the changes to the update. Not sure how that happened. About that time, I was attempting, not very successfully, to make a backup copy of my site with the Duplicator plugin so I could migrate to another server. I haven’t seen any negative effects, but perhaps it would be best to delete and re-install the plugin.
@myroxie: Did your changes also go backward?

Thank you so much, leejosepho. That is certainly simple, and just what I was hoping for. I just have a couple of other questions.
    1. The page templates: does this refer to comments.php?
    2. What other comment templates should I copy to my child theme? Does it depend on the theme? or are there a set number of comments templates in every theme?
    Thanks

FYI, I removed the link, since nobody was responding after three weeks. However, I would still like to know what that piece of code is about. The file in question can be accessed by downloading the Twenty Fourteen theme, and looking at the genericons.css file in an appropriate editor.

Hey,Silversides,I have the same problem. Unfortunately, the answer is, we need to learn to create our own child themes, and how to use them, if we want to override theme settings.

I have been meaning to learn to do this, but I got caught up in the next grant writing/reporting cycles, and phase 2 of my migration to wordpress got sidelined. (The part where I do the pretty stuff)
Here is an article that might help us understand what is behind the apparent backward step in 3.9 (despite all the hype about new image editing features.)

WP isn’t really trying to stomp us noobs, they are trying to get everyone to do things correctly so WP, runs better.
And this from the codex might give you a leg up.

The downside is that learning, with any fluency, HTML and css is time consuming, and for those of us who wear many hats, web development being only one, it can take a long time to get there. In the meantime, we are expected to have all our latest stories posted on the web ASAP, without embarrasing our colleagues or our organization.
So in the meantime, perhaps someone could have mercy on us noobs, and provide a clue as to what you are supposed to put in the “image css class” box?
We could really use a tooltip here. I’ve tried numerous css snippets in there but nothing happens.
Please make it not require editing my theme’s style.css, since it will just get deleted on the next update, or installing Jetpack. Thank you.
    Good Luck, Silversides.
    PS is that your dinner?
