Thanks for your help, but sorry to say, it was starting to sound a bit overcomplicated to me and I eventually decided to switch to a plugin with that option builtin; no disrespect intended, I still love Polylang but it’s gonna have to sit this one out as it didn’t quite fit my scenario. Cheers.

Two days later and I’m still as clueless as before. I tried looking into post API hooks to see if I could figure out something useful, but it seems to me that their purpose is to make changes to the original post and not to create a new one (like I’m probably looking for).
I also don’t understand if a translated post is handled the same as a normal one, or if it needs to be processed another way (or how it’s associated with the original, for that matter). Try as I might, I still have no idea where to start; any help at all, please?
