    Will do.

Thanks so much for your help, esmi. You’re a diva for sure!

Okay. I deleted the 08 directory.

I set the permissions of 2011 directory to 755. I still received an error message, this time stating that the directory 08 could not be created.

I then set the permissions of 2011 directory to 767. This time I was able to upload the file, and a new 08 directory was created with 767 permissions.

I changed the 2011 permissions back to 755, but the 08 directory is locked at 767 and I cannot change it. But the uploads are working.

Still not sure if this is an ideal situation for directory permissions, but it’s the only way to get it to work.

Also, I appreciate your help on this confusing problem.

The 2011 subfolder was already created, but I manually created the 08 folder. Should I delete it and try letting wordpress create it with the 767 permissions?

    Thanks, esmi;
    I had the following results:

755 – no luck (this is the original setting)
767 – Yes! But no luck when going back to 755
777 – Yes! But no luck when going back to 755
    766 – no luck.

Do I need to keep the permissions at 767? Should I be concerned about security with that setting?

    Very interesting site.

I am impressed with your family heritage and the wonderful tradition of service.

A new masthead would be a great start. The plain blue texture looks, well, plain. Your site is about entertainment (among other things), but there is very little that is entertaining about the masthead. Something photographic, perhaps; maybe add a script that selects a different masthead image at random on each reload.

Also, the typographic treatment isn’t very unified. I’d play around with the CSS and tighten the spacing between paragraphs, as well as the spacing below the social network link icons and other elements within each post. Ideally, you want each post to resolve as a unit in the viewers eye; but because the spacing is so spread out, that unity is lost.

Additionally, I’d try downsizing the sidebar text slightly (as well as tightening the vertical spacing too). In general, I think the sidebar can be downplayed just a bit – it seems to visually compete with the main content area too much.

Those are my thoughts on sharpening up your site. Hope that helps.
