I have closed the square gateway for months and not tried what Elvira suggested.
I tried to update my woocommerce and WC square plugin to the latest today. Tried to make payment. Still not processing and get the following in log.
08-08-2020 @ 12:46:30 – 3D Secure Verification Token is missing
08-08-2020 @ 12:50:15 – 3D Secure Verification Token is missing
08-08-2020 @ 13:00:46 – 3D Secure Verification Token is missing

I do deleted all caching and turn off my caching plugin in advance then updated.
In Chrome Dev Tools>Network tab the wc-square.min.js?ver-2.1.6

The checkout page still returns to the same page with nothing happened.

Is there any other way to solve it?

None of the 2.0+ version works for me. Every time I tried and failed, I roll back to 1.0.38. That one drops connection with square for 3days-3weeks. I have to frequently re-connect. But at least it could charge correctly.
