Consider this one closed. I just installed Jigshop and the Nextgen plugin worked. Which was odd as I thought I did that before, but guess not.
Maybe it was bundled with the theme I use? Heck I dunno.

Front page displays – ‘Your Latest Posts’
Syndication feeds show the most recent – 5
And it still shows a ton of posts.
