In reply to: Error establishing a database connection (again)@esmi: I’ve checked with my hosts if it was the correct name and they told me it is.
@dianebourgue: no, I have’nt tried “localhost” for my databse host. So I’m going to try that first.
@mountainh2o: if it’s some consolation to you: my server is running on Linux 🙁
I’m getting back to you on this, guys. Just give me a day or two, cause I’m doing this in my spare time. Thanks for trying!

In reply to: Error establishing a database connection (again)I’ve checked the database details and they’re right. So now I’m thinking something might be wrong with the setup of my folders because I still keep getting the message:
This either means that the username and password information in your wp-config.php file is incorrect or we can’t contact the database server at ldb401.han.de.siteprotect.com. This could mean your host’s database server is down.
I’ve checked with my host (i.e. hostway) if my root directory is public_html and that’s correct. But public_html is a folder from a directory that was assigned to me, called 5221. Should I include that in the URL to install?

In reply to: Error establishing a database connection (again)I’ve checked it, found out the last line did’nt contain ?> as last line, but it still does’nt work. I’ve edited wp-config. php with notebook, could that have something to do with it?
