Support for s2Member was initially slowed down in 2017, as the creators of the plugin stopped following their plugin.
Fortunately, some people (mainly Cristián Lávaque) have officially taken over the support and updates for this wonderful plugin, so you can rest easy 🙂Yes the support still exists but it is mainly done via the official WPSharks forum: LINK.

You can do almost anything with s2Member, but in your case you need to have a minimum of programming knowledge and use shortcodes or php conditionals.
Look at the “API / Scripting” section of the plugin.

Your concerns (and mine) are quite justified but I can only advise you to setup PayPal as a payment solution on your website while waiting for the update of s2Member.
This implementation is very easy and PayPal will not pose any problem of SCA since everything is managed internally by them.
It would be a shame to leave such a good member management plugin for a complicated update and a little late.

I directly replaced the style.css file with my customized file in the plugin directory.
I know that any update will overwrite this modified version but if you tell me that the next update will use my custom file again in the theme directory, everything should be ok no?
