ok, found a way around it ! I created the new site, downloaded http://interconnectit.com/products/search-and-replace-for-wordpress-databases/ and then renamed the newly created site to what I wanted it to be. Hey Presto ! So far no problems. Can anyone think of anything I might trip up on that I have yet to find?

Thanks for the link….it certainly looks like ive got some work ahead of me. As I dont actually have more than one site yet, can I not just backup, delete the site, create the new site without the subdomain, then restore the backup?

Ipstenu, thanks for the reply. Do i need to uninstall my cubs.1stgthorkelsy.co.uk, install 1stgthorkelsy.co.uk and then install the cubs again, or is there a better way as I dont think that mapping will be very tidy and could cause problems in the future.
