In reply to: Media Library is not functioning correctly.Hi James, thanks for the input.
Have you read through the complete thread? As if you had though read through the full details you’d have also seen that I have carried out the tasks as you mentioned, plugin deactivation combined with a revert to the default Theme. The issue remains.
Everything was working fine, from one day to the next and then in one foul swoop, and with no changes having been made to the administrative back end by myself I found myself in this mess. I am using the Theme and current PlugIns for selling imagery and as such some of the files I have are very large, up to 5760 x 3840px but I use a 1024 x 683px web prepared jpeg featured image for their representation on the site. These featured images are no greater than 200Kb/ea Some of the master files are over 15MB which still shouldn’t be an issue as these are the images that are sent to the clients after an automated checkout has been made via PayPal. It is a system that has worked with real clients in real time. All media resolutions are set as they should be on WP.
I will pass on this thread URL to my Host Servers Tech Support and see what they have to say.
Thanks,

In reply to: Media Library is not functioning correctly.Jon,
I welcome the input from others. Very elitist of you to simply try to dominate over an issue with someone like myself who has limited understanding of the back end of WordPress issues. Not cool to dis-spell the potential light shedding of others who have experienced similar issues.I am losing money on this problem now, it is beyond a joke. I’ve had people asking me why my store feature isn’t working as they have been trying to make purchases of my imagery etc. HostGator do not option for coding checks unless, surprisingly, I pay additional service costs.
Cheers!

In reply to: Media Library is not functioning correctly.I made a completely fresh reinstallation of WordPress to my HostGator server. I then rebuilt the site, and the issue persists. I changed themes thinking that was the issue, and the problem persists. Show me where in that process the finger of doubt can point at anywhere other than WordPress.
I am very happy for you that you don’t have this issue with WordPress but that doesn’t mean that the issue doesn’t exist. Not every car that runs off a production line runs the same as the previous vehicle on the same production line. If everything worked perfectly because one example of said product did then wouldn’t this be a perfect, and somewhat boring, World?
When I get to the bottom of the issue I will be sure to update this board, but until then I think it best to consider that there could be a very slim possibility that there could be an issue with WordPress in this case.

In reply to: Media Library is not functioning correctly.Hi ksheth,
You may wish to start your own thread as I doubt anyone will find your message if it’s buried in this thread. I am not a programmer as this thread also points out so please maybe address someone better equipped to answer your questions.Cheers,

In reply to: Media Library is not functioning correctly. This report from a highly respected freelance WordPress developer:
“I logged into your site and everything is up an running. I added the custom CSS to hide the Sell Media search box.
While browsing your files through FTP I noticed that the site is not generating thumbnails for the large files. Any file over 1MB does not have a thumbnail all others do. That explains the slow Media Library page. WordPress is loading large images and scaling them down with CSS.
I have no idea why it’s doing that. I checked your PHP settings and there’s plenty of memory to generate thumbnails”.
So it seems the issue IS a WordPress issue.

In reply to: Media Library is not functioning correctly.I’ve never had such an issue before and I have had many WordPress sites over the years each with varying complexities of themes and plugins etc. This issue is unique. It has the Theme engineers stumped, it has the host gator support stumped.
I do not need managed WP Hosting simply for the fact that I now how to run my site, how the basic internal structure and requirements work but when it comes down to digging around in root directories to fix something that shouldn’t be broken in the first place?
That mixed with the fact that the cheapest WP Managed Hosting I found starts at around US$20 a month. This is almost double what I am currently playing and will be superfluous to my needs as and when this one issue gets sorted out.

In reply to: Media Library is not functioning correctly.I tried replacing the site as you mentioned but it didn’t work. That may be down to my ineptitude alas we will never know. I wiped the complete database, reinstalled WordPress which should have solved the problem right? I mean how many failing instal events can one have when starting from scratch?
I then reinstalled my site from the last backup I had on my Dropbox. As it was a backup made when I had the issue, guess what, I still have the damned issue.
I’ve paid for subscriptions for the Theme and plugins, I’ve paid for hosting, I’m sick of bloody paying for crap that doesn’t seem to work. I’m happy to pay for things that do work, but I have meat balls not crystal balls so who’s to say whoever I next select as hosting options aren’t just designed around fleecing clients, which is my opinion of what I’ve experienced of late.

In reply to: Media Library is not functioning correctly.I have replaced everything as instructed and now no web site and a Page Not Found sign from Host Gator??? I tried to find a WP Login Page, nothing?
Now what?

In reply to: Media Library is not functioning correctly.I have a backup of my site in my Dropbox.
I have deleted all except the Folder and php file as mentioned, now trying hard to upload two folders, WP-Admin and WP-Includes. I have FTP’d them with Cyberduck and I can see them in the Public HTML root directory under my FTP Account name but I cannot seem to copy them into the WP Directory. Only option is file by file, no drag and drop option?
Nightmare.

In reply to: Media Library is not functioning correctly.@jon (Kenshino) are you instructing me to keep the two locations marked, delete the rest showing in this pane and then replace with those folders and files from the File found within the 4.4.2 zip file?
I can’t understand why the WP Content file also only says 4KB when there is almost 600MB of disk space used for the site thus far, again that may also highlight my lack of understanding at this level.

In reply to: Media Library is not functioning correctly. Please, that is all in Swahili to me. I think one of the main issues with this well intentioned service is that folks tend to think everyone here has knowledge and experience with back end administration. Sadly I don’t.
That may sound a little weird to some but it’s very much a case of horses for courses. Now if you wanted to swim outside of a cage with Great White Sharks then you’d call on someone to guide you through that, someone like me.
I don’t understand the coded instructions you inform me of, all it does is help with that frustration build up.

In reply to: Media Library is not functioning correctly.I have been in touch with the Host Gator support engineers who have told me that they cannot replicate this issue?
I am not comfortable carrying out the instructions you mention. As I said my frustration comes from that personal inability and understanding mixed with the fact that such lofty engineers seem stumped and further confounded with the fact that this seems not to be effecting other WordPress users?

In reply to: Media Library is not functioning correctly. This is most definitely a WordPress issue. I have had the software engineers from the company that make my Theme and Main PlugIns to support the eCommerce options within that theme have access to my Servers at HostGator and the backend of my site.
They cannot find the issue with their Theme or Directory structure within the Server so have suggested a complete reinstallation of WordPress and reboot my site from a backup.
This really is bizarre.
The issue persists whether I am in Grid or List options as asked.

In reply to: Media Library is not functioning correctly.Update; Just tried the site in Firefox as I generally use Chrome and the performance is much better. I would be over the moon if it wasn’t for the fact that now the Media Library fails to show all the images in the Library, instead the library is filled with intermitted holders where the imagery should be in both Grid and List view. Some Images upload no worries whilst others seem to upload but fail to display.
All of my web activity is on Chrome though so now it would be a case pf switching between Chrome and Firefox to maintain my website and engaging with my normal daily online routine when in the office?
Cheers,

In reply to: Media Library is not functioning correctly.I don’t have a clue about looking into this level of a website, about understanding Java etc. I’m looking at a console with lots of figures and code with no clue as to what it means or what it is I’m supposed to be looking at / for.
Hence the frustration.
