In reply to: [Lovecraft] How do I remove the author from a post? Thanks @shawtux! That worked for me.
Just to be clear, I’m running a child theme. I went to the setting Appearance > Customize > Additional CSS and added the code there. Will that get overridden when I update the theme or WordPress?

In reply to: [Lovecraft] How do I remove the author from a post? Thanks. So what do I do if I’m already using a child theme? For past modifications I’ve been told to make a copy of the necessary file into the child directory and edit the file.

In reply to: [Lovecraft] How do I customize the footer?Yeah. No thanks on the Skype.
Anyway, found the answer on another thread.

In reply to: [Lovecraft] How do I customize the footer? Thanks for that. That allowed me to add some text to a footer, but it seems to only span half the width, which looks odd.
More to the point, what I actually want to do is replace the text that’s in the black bar at the very bottom, where it says “Proudly powered by WordPress…” I don’t want to advertise WordPress or anyone else on my website.
I’m guessing this will probably require a child theme and change to code in a file. I’m comfortable doing that, I just don’t know where to do it.

In reply to: [Fictive] Fictive – Any issues with Fictive and WP 4.0?Cool. Good to hear that. Thanks for the upgrade tips too. I’m always very careful about things like that, especially in a plugin-heavy environment with many third party vendors affecting a site.
I did back up before updating last night. Everything seems to be fine so far.

In reply to: [Fictive] Fictive Theme – How do I edit the footer? His question was exactly appropriate for this thread. If he had started a new thread I would not have known the answer to his question, which I definitely need.
robsantos: Thank you for posting your follow up question here. Now I know how to make the edit suggested to me in the original answer.
And thanks to techievous and Kathryn for the answers.
Worked like a charm. Thanks again for the help!

In reply to: [Fictive] How do I use excerpts on my home page? This worked great. Thanks Kathryn!
Now I just need to figure out how to get the featured image on my post pages. If you have any thoughts on that they’d be appreciated: http://wordpress.org/support/topic/fictive-theme-featured-image-not-displaying-on-the-post-pages

In reply to: [Fictive] How do I use excerpts on my home page? Thanks for this info. I’ll give it a shot. Looks like I may be making two mods in the theme now if I can achieve what I want in the other question I had.
It continues to frustrate me that such basic functionality is not included in WordPress by default.
Thanks for your help Kathryn… in both questions!
Thanks for the info.
This is so frustrating. It seems rather useless to me to have an image for the post on the home page but not have that image on the post itself. Having to add the image in two places is poor design in my view.
Any idea how I can modify the theme to automatically insert the featured image in the post where it belongs? I already need to create a child theme to make another modification that should also already be in the theme so I may as well make them both at the same time.
Thanks!
My alter ego now that I figured out how to access the account. Just bumping into my queue.
