Ok I am getting this 404 error page also but not for permalink.(i think)set permalink for post as shown…
Just installed yesterday and changed the permission on index.php to 666.
added the re_write mod to .htacess but I get the 404 when I view the post which is going to this address: http://www.webdesignslc.com/wordpress/2005/02/28/mistaken-bloke-yer/
All this started from a fresh install before I changed poermissions and added to htaccess, but I believe I was able to view the post once after publishing. I also get an error when I upload(not 404) wheather that makes adifference

Seems I can’t view my data base tables so that’s out,but don’t think that is it.
