OK. Thanks. I found that there were 2 plugins offering Classic Widgets – one was hidden away. I have now got this to work and am still experimenting with it.

Herein lies the problem. You say that I have the correct version of this plug-in, and I think that you are also saying that it is not compatible with the Classic Widgets plugin.
I had the Classic Widgets plugin installed but it wasn’t active. I have now deleted it and still no difference. I am confused.
