In reply to: Enabling Administrative Privileges (Appearance, Themes, Plugins)Yep, so I see that under the wp_options db, admin_email is still that of the gentleman who originally created the website. So though I have access to phpmyadmin via the host, I must not be accessing it as an administrator.
Gentleman in this thread appears to have resolved the issue by editing the admin email value and resetting the password, new password being sent to new e-mail. I’m thinking this is the route I need to take? http://wordpress.org/support/topic/cant-access-the-appearance-tab/page/2?replies=35
If I can get a confirmation of this, I’m going to go ahead and do it.
Thanks,

In reply to: Enabling Administrative Privileges (Appearance, Themes, Plugins)I appreciate your reply and realize that my first post was ambiguous. I don’t think it’s so much that the theme designer coded the theme to prevent access to theme, plugin, and appearance options (although I guess it could certainly be the case).
Rather, I think the person who installed the theme disabled those privileges somehow.
Indeed, the wp_capabilities value was different than what is suggested in your linked post. I have inserted the proper value yet have not noticed any immediate changes.
See image below for missing appearance, theme, plugin tabs:
