  • Thank you! I will do that 🙂

I am still seeing post author when viewing single blog posts, even though I have unchecked Show Post Author under Blog Options.
Is there a trick I am not aware of? Or is this not easily possible?

The problem seems to be when I change the .php files in the WordPress backend. I tried adding the include parameter via text editor and then uploaded the header.php to my server via FTP. It worked like a charm.

Normally, I should be able to change the php files through WordPress backend, right?

    Hi,

    First a reply to syncbox:
I tried many different versions of the include, even tried to use exclude instead. Nothing worked and my site was always completely empty.

I have double checked the Page Id’s and they are correct.

The URL to my site is http://kvikkfix.is/. However, to fix the problem I had to delete and re-install my theme and this time I made no changes to the header.php file, instead I gave all the pages that are not supposed to show in the header nav a parent. It works like that, but feels cheap.

    And to Stvwlf:
Thanks for those comforting words 🙂 I have a backup of everything and one of the first things I tried when i realized something was wrong, was to copy the code from my backup header.php document over the header.php code in WordPress backend and save it like that. But still my web page was completely empty. The only solution I found was to delete and re-install my theme and then assign a parent to those pages that I didn’t want to show up in my header nav.

If somebody has a better solution, or can explain what went wrong, I would be most grateful.

    Hi, thanks for the reply.

I tried removing the include clause and saving again, but still nothing appeared on my site. Even if I copy and paste the original header.php code over the code in the WordPress backend header.php and save, I am still having the same problem.
I ended up having to delete and re-install my theme to be able to view something on my page.

Any clues as to what I am doing wrong? Could there be something wrong with the theme?

Is there an alternative way to achieve what I want with the Pages in the header nav?

I found this in the FAQ and I think I got it all sorted out: Why is there no Page Template option when writing or editing a Page

I have been searching and searching through the forum because I couldn’t believe there wasn’t something like a ‘blog within a blog’ in WordPress. What I wanted was to have a normal blog on my frontpage and then another page filled with articles.

It seems you are on to something with this new page template. I tried to do the same thing on my page, but I couldn’t figure out how to assign that page template to a new page, like you did? Can you help me out here? Also if somebody else has a better solution for this blog within a blog problem please let me know!
