In reply to: Moving from WordPress.com, some basic Q’s…I am a Sussex muddy arse myself. These are the sort of questions your developer should be helping you with. But yes you will be fine.

In reply to: Another IE Sidebar ISsueI have got no idea if you wrote the CSS and in particular the positioning or layout yourself but I have rarely seen such a mess. There is no substitute for building your blog on a sound layout. Sorry but no one can help.

In reply to: Numbering Your EntriesChad – I have no issue with you. But you would be surprised (or maybe you wouldn’t) at the number of half assed designers who get paid work and dump the whole problem in stages – and often under different ids in this forum. As a rule of thumb if I was ever in the middle of a paid job and couldn’t manage it I would email my friends lest my client reads this forum as well:) If I needed help here I would fess up straight off the bat that it was paid. Then I would hope that someone would help and in turn I would acquire an obligation to help them if they got jammed up. Or I would offer to pay straight away.

In reply to: seeking paid help – quicklyThat is fine. A lot of folk go that route, and a lot of pros lurk here.
To prevent embarrassing bidding wars in the forum the rules are that the poster is invited to leave an email address and then the thread can be closed. You may also wish to request help using the WP Pro mailing list.Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Links in new window without menusMany of the people who help out in these forums are web standards afficiandos. From the accessibility standpoint new windows are a no no. Fortunately for many of us the perennial irritation of them disappeared with tabbed browsers, and web standards. Guys just do not use them. And they are reluctant to help folk who do because they believe they are A Bad Thing. Are the gurus *stumped*? Unlikely I would think?

In reply to: Problem with background image within a div in firefoxWell that is pretty much the predicted behavior for both browsers. The CSS spec is not clear on this issue. I think you need to add a clearer div or 2.

In reply to: Theme switching back to defaultIn almost every case where this occurs there is something wrong somewhere (prolly php related) in the theme we have selected. WP chokes and loads the default which is its predicted behaviour. Plugins are a good suspect.

In reply to: Problem with background image within a div in firefoxAnything to do with fixed height / min height in a blog is suspect. Ditch it.
