I am experiencing this “permission denied” issue on a site hosted on GoDaddy when trying to import a site demo content from Theme Developer “U-Design”. You mentioned that “GoDaddy does not allow changing permissions on wp-content to 777 recursively” however you can do this with an FTP client like Filezilla. I have tried recursively changing wp-content to 777 and 775. One thing I’m noticing is the wp-content/index.php is locked on the server (apparently by GoDaddy). Any suggestions for a workaround?
