    Brilliant. Thank you for your help. Seems to do all that I wanted.
    One question though – when I select a sub-category the filter works correctly and only shows the products in that sub-category but the description above the products is for the category (not sub-category). Is it possible to change this?

    Thank you. Have checked on another pc and all is fine. have cleared cache on my own but no different. Not sure what the problem is, but it’s obviously just my pc so it can wait.

    Thanks for your help

    Not sure what I have done, but the first problem seems to have sorted itself. However, the second problem, relating tot he Product Page, still persists.

    find that surprising that that is an old feature and not available on the latest versions. I only purchased and installed it last week! And why would you remove a useful feature?

    I accept that the section break may be immoveable (though don’t know why it can’t be made to be moveable), but I do not understand about new fields always being added at the end.

    When I click on “add a new field”, there is the option (radio buttons) at top right of screen to add “at the beginning”, “at the end” or “before” followed by a drop-down box of all the other field names. This is functionality I would expect, but it was just greyed out on my pc. However, I have just reinstalled Windows 10 (for other reasons) and this functionality now seems to have been restored.

    Not particularly helpful if the person responding doesn’t know the product or understand a straightforward question!

    Many thanks

    sorry for missing the obvious!

    I’m still new to WP and not sure what you’re asking me to look for. However, I have solved it!!

    Since my last post I have tried a few things and noted that the thumbnail (or medium image) was correctly shown if the product was uploaded by spreadsheet and the images were in the month/year folder, but the thumbnail was not used if the same product is uploaded by spreadsheet and the images were in another folder (images having been previously moved with ‘Media File Manager’ plugin). I checked on my server and the same set of images were in the product folder as were previously in the month/year folder.

    I then deactivated ‘Media File Manager’ and used another plugin, ‘Media Library Plus’, to upload the files directly to the product folder. UPC then correctly picks the medium sized image for the main catalogue.

    Problem was obviously something within the ‘Media File Manager’ plugin that was not correctly updating the database. I now just have to upload all the files again with the new plugin, but at least UPC is now doing what it is supposed to.

    Thank you for your help.

    Hi Rustaurius

    I do use WP to upload the images and from what you have said, UPC should read and use my medium sized images, but it doesn’t. I have unchecked the month/year option, so WP uploads all images to wp-content/uploads. It then ‘crunches’ each image to produce the lower-res images. Typically I have for each image:
    image.jpg (original, uploaded)
    image-1200×800.jpg (wp large)
    image-450×300.jpg (wp medium)
    image-300×200.jpg (wp thumbnail)
    image-60×60.jpg (I think produced by my Pinnacle theme)

    I then use another plugin, Media File Manager, to move the files to the product folders. It also moves all the associated files (I have checked using Filezilla). All the above is done before I load the products into the catalogue using the spreadsheet.

    WP still has track of where the lower-res images are because it uses them for posts (I also move these images in a similar way to a ‘posts’ folder).

    It therefore seems to be just UPC that can’t find or use the medium images. I have the ‘thumbnail support’ selected in Options – I assume there is nothing else I need to set.

    My site has now moved (been made live) and the gallery can be found at http://wotknots.co.uk/gallery/. If you want to check that the thumbnails are used by WP, then please check the images on the Blog page.

    Is there any more information that you need? Do you need to access the back-end, in which case how do I get login details to you?

    Thank you, in anticipation of getting this sorted.

    Now that I have developed my site, I seem to be having the same problem. When I only had a few manually added test products, it all worked fine, but now that I have hundreds of products (so far), I have started using the spreadsheet upload and the catalogue no longer uses thumbnails.

    I assume this is the same problem as above, as my images are also sorted into product folders, not month/date folders. Although each folder has the full sized images and all other size variants, UPC does not show the ‘medium sized’ image. The consequence is that the gallery take an age to load first time round. Subsequent times are faster as I assume the images are cached on my PC, but my concern is that as the catalogue grows, visitors will give up waiting for the catalogue to display. It will also be a real problem on mobile devices with poor bandwidth.

    Can UPC not be set to load the medium sized image even if not in a month/date folder? I would have thought that most people using this plugin with more than a few hundred items would want to organize their product images more logically than the WP default.

    Even if I were to revert to using year/month folders, it would make a nonsense of trying to rebuild part of the catalogue from a spreadsheet. At the moment, my spreadsheet has links to the images that all point to one folder, but to use the WP defaults, I would have to know which month each product’s image was uploaded!

    Hope this can be sorted!

    Forget the above. I removed some styling from my CSS and the background option now seems to work. The original styling was
    .prod-cat-title.upcp-thumb-title {
    padding: 40px 0px 0px 8px;
    min-height: 20px;
    }
    At least, I think that was was it was. I have now put it back and background still works, so maybe the original had some error that was throwing your styling. Anyway, it now works!

    Thanks for your time and help.

    I temporarily changed to twentysixteen theme, but no difference. Still no background colour unless I style it with my CSS (currently commented-out).
    I have tonight made this site live, so have changed the vibrant red that you suggested to a pale grey, just in case it kicks in!

    Thank you for your response. I followed your suggestions, but with no effect. By ‘clearing cache’, do you mean browser cache (which I have done). I have also tried it in different browsers. I do not have a caching plugin.

    I changed the lines in my CSS to give ‘red’ background, and that worked. I then commented them out again and the background went back to white, even though the options background color was/is still set to red (as per your suggestion).

    I also temporarily deactivated all my other plugins just in case there was a conflict, but this did not help.

    Is there any other information you need?

    I don’t think that there is anything in my custom CSS that may have affected it, but would be grateful if you would check. There is line in there (last item) to set the background colour, but this is currently commented out, as I would prefer to do it through your options if possible.

    The style sheet is here: style sheet

    Thanks

    I also notice that the background color option seems to have no effect (Styling/Thumbnail/Item Options). Is this a similar problem?
