Forum: Installing WordPress
In reply to: blog not appearing after 2.2 to 2.2.1 upgradeOh yeah, one other thing, mabbr… If, indeed, you had the exact same problem as I, here’s one thing you might want to do…
Since you can still see your account, posts, etc., go to your WP dashboard and under the MANAGE tab, click on EXPORT. Download the file and save it.
I did that and imported it to my dormant wordpress.com account. (I had been using reginarivera.wordpress.com before I moved it over to my own server with a WP.org account.) That could temporarily serve as your blog site, in a pinch. Keep in mind, though, if you add new posts AND you end up resurrecting your WP.org blog site, you’ll need to export your WP.com files back to WP.org.
I hope I’m not confusing you more than I’m trying to help you!

In reply to: blog not appearing after 2.2 to 2.2.1 upgradeI’m sorry to hear that, mabbr. Who hosts your website/blog? They could probably restore the contents of your blog folder back to the version just before you tried to upgrade. You’ll want to be sure to ask them to just restore from the back up your wordpress folder… Otherwise, they might overwrite your entire site… Not a bad thing, unless you’ve added lots of content since your wordpress fiasco.
If that works out, SAVE a copy of your folder to your computer. THAT will be your backup. It’s good to do that regularly, too, as your blog expands.
Good luck!

In reply to: plugins dont workJust a thought… Was the plugins file you uploaded a compressed file? If so, you might try extracting the contents, then uploading the newly EXTRACTED file.
Forum: Plugins
In reply to: Need Help!!!Your plugins folder is located within your “blog” folder.
If you look in your local files, it’s probably here:
yourblogsitefolder–>blog–>wp-content–>pluginsSo, once you’ve downloaded a plug-in folder you want to add, you’ll just drag that folder directly into your plugins folder, as outlined above. (If it’s a zipped folder, be sure to first extract the contents, then drag the extracted folder… i.e. do not drag the zipped folder into your directory.)
The path would then look like:
blog–>wp-content–>plugins–>”yourpluginfolderhere”Once that’s done, you’ll need to ftp it to your remote host server.
Next, go to your WordPress dashboard, and the plugin should show up under the Plugins tab. Click the “Activate” tab that appears next to it.
Hope this helps!
