We’ve identified the issue. We’re going to release a fix soon with a whitelist for Slimstat. One suggestion though for better compatibility in the future: Right now when Slimstat does an AJAX call, it doesn’t identify itself as an AJAX request by using the X-Requested-With: XMLHttpRequest header. WP-SpamShield checks the
admin-ajax.phprequests so we can’t just check theDOING_AJAXconstant in WordPress, as other non-AJAX POST requests can come in through that endpoint. Starting in the next release (later today likely), WPSS will ignore all requests coming in throughadmin-ajax.php(at least for the relevant test that is currently causing the block) that are identified as AJAX with the XMLHttpRequest header. We’ll also add the whitelisting for Slimstat, but if you change the params in the future, the XMLHttpRequest will help across the board (likely with other plugins as well that deal with security).Hope that helps! Developer of WP-SpamShield here. If you’re having any issues, please submit a support request so we can look into it. You’ll want to check the Troubleshooting Guide and FAQs first, as most issues are resolved by checking these. It’s usually not necessary to deactivate the plugin.
There have not been any reports of conflicts with these two plugins so far. However, if there are, we will find a solution. (Unfortunately there is no way for us to look into it if users don’t report issues to us.)

Regarding the issue of the problem coming back, the issue likely has nothing to do with the plugin but rather configuration or conflict issues specific to your site. Like mentioned above, please follow the steps listed in the sticky post, and submit a support request at the plugin’s official support venue so we can help you resolve the issue.

If you’ve having any issues with WP-SpamShield, please see the Troubleshooting Guide. It may be related to Troubleshooting Guide Step 9 or Step 13. You should be able to easily fix the issue without deactivating the plugin.

The plugin is fully PHP 7 compatible. Unfortunately the PHP Compatibility Checker plugin is grossly inaccurate. It uses a flawed detection method. All it ends up doing is creating a headache for other plugin developers. If you look at it’s support threads, you’ll see it’s full of false positive reports. In our tests of over 100+ plugins, it’s had false positives in the range of 30-40% (depending on the version).
The way to accurately test PHP 7 compatibility is to run plugins on a test site on a PHP 7 system and use WP_DEBUG. (See instructions in our WordPress Debugging Guide.)

In reply to: Amazonaws and ColoCrossing+1 for what Steve said. Those are bots. Both ColoCrossing and AWS are hosting providers. We track a significant amount of bad traffic from ColoCrossing.
The referrer can be faked, so even if it says it’s a Google referral, it doesn’t mean it’s human.

Just a note: Nothing in the recent versions would have caused a general conflict with Contact Form 7. We use it extensively and would never let a general conflict like that go unchecked. However there could still be specific conflict on your site that give you an issue. (Configuration and other issues can come into play, not just plugins and themes.)
