  • Based on your post here it would appear that you were already “hacked” before the upgrade. That’s why your google listing read like it did. It also looks like you were running 2.5.* as you mention in this post. You should always make sure to keep up to date with all the newest releases otherwise you open yourself up to these kinds of threats. I recommend backing up your database and doing a fresh install. As numeeja mentioned, be sure that your new password is not one that’s easy to guess.

There doesn’t seem to be a changelog for 2.8.2 yet. I upgraded to 2.8.1 a few days ago so I just did a side-by-side comparison to check for files with newer dates.

For those interested in the files that changed (8 total):

    wordpress/ readme.html
    wordpress/ wp-admin / comment.php & edit-form-comment.php
    wordpress/ wp-admin / includes / comment.php & template.php
    wordpress/ wp-includes / comment-template.php & default-widgets.php & version.php

I compared 2.8.2 to 2.8.1 and found the files that were updated. Since it’s more than a few files I guess it would be easier for most just to simply upgrade the entire install manually or auto-update.
