Thanks Matt! I actually removed the prog files not knowing what it was. I will see if it’s coming back. I used EWWW in the past but I probably removed it a year ago. Still, the images kept being modified but not the prog file that was old. (2014)
If it comes back, I will send you the files for sure! Have you ever heard of such an issue?
Sorry yes images indeed belonged to my website. I also use WP Optimize.
Hi there!
I have been having the exact same problem for a while now. It actually only shows up when I receive my Wordfence ‘newsletter’.
Recently Modified Files
wp-content/uploads/2014/11/xxx-500×140.jpg
wp-content/uploads/2014/11/xxx-150×140.jpg
wp-content/uploads/2014/11/www-150×36.jpgI am already using the ‘scan images as executable option’.
Looks like Wordfence is always picking up the same images. I have checked but it doesn’t seem that there is any hidden code in the files either.
When checking my FTP, it looks like the file has indeed been updated today but I have no idea why! There is also a jpg.prog version on the image. Again I have no idea what this is.
Thanks!
Hey sorry Matt,
So weird, I did not logged in to my admin today but scan started by itself and told me one plugin needed to be updated. That’s how I found out the scan started as scheduled.
Oh well! I guess sometimes it’s working fine and sometimes it’s not!!
Great idea! I will do that tonight.
As always thanks for your prompt response!
Thank you Matt! Yup I am using WP Super Cache and yes I usually log in 2/3 times a day and the automatic scan only occurs with first login. So I guess the problem has been solved! I don’t mind anyway it’s fine. I thought that was a new option but maybe I never realized that because of my cache plugin, Wordfence has been doing a scan every time I first logged in.
Thanks Matt!
I think I am actually seeing a pattern here… Every time I first log in and then go to the Scan page, it automatically starts a new scan. Even though I am not clicking on ‘Start a Wordfence Scan’. So I have to manually click on ‘Kill the current scan’. Looks like there is something automatic behind it. Only happens when I haven’t been logged in for a day. Same happened last night when I first logged in at 6.30 pm and went to the scan page. I tried to go to the scan page at 7 and nothing happened.

I have no idea! I can see one scan this morning at 7 am and one at 6.45 pm… Next scan is for tomorrow at 11.

In reply to: Adsense not working properly since UpdateHa thanks! Good to know! And yup you are right I always forget that I have one more ad in my menu now!
Yup but that is fine since I will be getting likes from this share. I have tested it already and it works. As long as likes come from the shares it will show up.
People need to like it after sharing it and then it will show on your blog post. That’s the only way.
If you simply post the URL on your Facebook page and not using the share button first then the likes won’t show. That’s the problem that O currently have. I have dozen of likes but since it doesn’t come from the share button it’s not showing up. That’s probably because Facebook is now using https instead of http.
Ok I feel that I understood what was going on at least on my blog.
Before, I was only copy/pasting the URL of my article directly on my Facebook Page. From there, when I was getting likes and or shares that would show on my Jetpack Sharer.
Although, since they changed their http to https, NOW people need to click on the share button on my blog post and then from there, people need to LIKE this share. Then I see all the likes on my Jetpack buttons. It’s twisted but anyway.
I guess if I simply share my article directly by clicking on the share button from my blog, then I should see more likes. I will do a test this we to see if that works.
Hi MarkRH,
I have the exact same problem but can’t post it on Facebook. Seems that I need to be a developper. Correct?
Did they fix your issue after all?
Thanks 🙂
Thanks! Is this a new feature?
Yes thanks! Where can I change that? I didn’t see the option. I have the free version. First time ever I received an email summary from Wordfence.
