    Hi, thanks for the question.

Can you give me some more details about how posts are being published on the front end. Are you using a custom form or are you using a plugin to provide this functionality.

If you are using a custom form, then you need to wrap the form code in the Limit Posts shortcode (EG [limit_posts type=”post” action=”publish”] your form code [/limit_posts]).

If you are using a plugin to allow you to perform front end publishing of posts then, if the plugin uses a shortcode, simply warp the shortcode in the limit posts shortcode as above. If it doesn’t use a shortcode then it is unlikely that you’ll be able to use Limit Posts as you want to.

    Hope this helps,

    Thanks.

    Hi, thanks for the question.

Yes, I’d be happy for you to provide translations for both Limit Posts and Pay to Post. I’ve no idea how to go about this as I’ve never provide translations for a plugin before. If you know what you need to do then go ahead and let me know if you need any assistance.

Yes as far as I’m aware you can use both shortcodes on the form. I’ve never actually tried it myself, but I don’t know of any reason why this wouldn’t work. Let me know if you have any problems with this.

    Thanks.

    Hi, thanks for the query.

If I understand your question correctly you want to be able to limit a particular post type to a maximum number of posts with in a specified time period, regardless of which users published the posts?

I’ll assume that this is correct. It’s not something that I’d planned to do with the plugin, but if there is a need for such functionality I’ll consider it for the next release.

I’ll try to take a look at this over the next few days, but I can’t promise anything as I’m a bit pushed for time at the moment.

    Thanks.

    Hi jsafire,

Ah, that’s disappointing. I’d not considered using it on a https site.

Do you know which css file your browser is complaining about?

I suspect that there is not much that I’m going to be able to do about this at the moment, due to a lack of time to update this plugin. But if you let me know what css file it is, I’ll see what I can do.

    Thanks.

    Hi Noumaan,

glad to hear that you’ve found Limit Posts useful.

    Thanks for your suggestions.

    1. Allow user to save draft if they’ve reached their limit – this sounds like a really good idea, i’ll definitely consider it for the next release.

    2. I’m not sure how easy it would be to save limits when they are added, but yes I agree that it is easy to forget to click Save Settings. I’ve seen other pages show a message when you try to leave and there are unsaved settings. Perhaps this is something that I could implement.

    Thanks for your suggestions.

I haven’t managed to make any progress with this. It’s pretty difficult to work out what the problem is, when I can’t get access to the code that you are using (due to it being a paid for only plugin).

Feel free to take a look at code for Limit Posts – it’s really quite a simple plugin. I’m sure that you can probably work out what needs changing in the code to make it work with Ignition Deck.

If you do make changes to the code then please make sure these changes are shared with the rest of the community – or let me know what the changes are and I’ll attempt to integrate them into Limit Posts if I can.

    Thanks.

I’ve decided not to add a payment model to Limit Posts. I think it falls outside of the realm of Limit Posts. I am currently working on another plugin which will allow you to charge for posting. Hopefully, I’ll be publishing it in the next couple of weeks.

    Hi Lurie,

I can see how that might be useful. I’ll consider including it in a future release.

    Thanks.

Lurie, glad to hear you got it working.
    Thanks for the feedback.

shrecked, I’ve tried to limit posts with a custom post type, through the wordpress dashboard here and it works OK. So I’m a bit stumped. I’ve just uploaded v1.0.7 of the plugin (which should be live soon) – you could try that, I don’t think it’ll fix your problem though.

I assume that you are logged in as a Subscriber when you are testing this – it’s a silly question I know – but I thought I would just check. You could try setting up the same rule for the Administrator role – then try it as the Administrator (it’s unusual for subscribers to post, unless the capabilities for the subscriber role have been changed). Let me know if any of that helps.

Lurie, can you send me details of how you are using the limit_posts shortcode with the front end form for adverts. Also can you send me details of the limit post rules you have set up (use the contact form on http://www.limitposts.com if you don’t want to post this information publicly) – screen shots will be fine.

    Thanks.

OK, it should be working then. I’ll give it a test with a custom post type and see if I can find what the problem is. Will post again as soon as I have some news for you.

    Hi shrecked,
it looks like you’ve set up the post limit correctly. When a Subscriber publishes a Playerad, do they do that through the admin screen or through a custom form?

If Playerads are added through a custom form then you’ll need to wrap the limit post shortcode around the form – [limit_posts type=”Playerad” action=”publish”] your form code [/limit_posts].

If Playerads are added through the admin screen then it should just work. Let me know if Subscribers are using admin screen to enter Playerads – I did originally test this with a custom post type and it seemed to work OK, but I might have missed something.

    Thanks.

Thanks for getting back to me with those details.

When you add Limit Post rules as you have done, it will only limit the number of posts which can be made in the WordPress admin panel.

When you tested this, are you sure that you were logged in as a Subscriber? It’s unusual for Subscribers to publish or submit posts – especially in the admin panel.

Also when a Subscriber creates an ignition_product are you sure that it is submitted for review, rather than published?

From what I’ve been able to find out, when a user contributes to crowd funding through IgnitionDeck, they use a front end form – they don’t do this in the admin panel? If this is the case, then you need to use the Limit Post shortcode with the IgnitionDeck form – if that is possible.

Sorry for all the questions, I’m just trying to get an idea of what is really going on here.

If you want to contact me ‘off forum’ – use the contact form here – http://www.limitposts.com/contact/ . If you send details of your site, I’ll see if I can find some time to take a quick look at it.

    Thanks.

    Hi Gino,

I’d not considered adding a payment model to Limit Posts, but it does sound like something which might be useful.

I’m busy with a couple of other projects at the moment, so I won’t get a chance to make any changes for a while. I will come back and think about this when I get a chance.

    Thanks for the idea!

    Hi,

I’m not familiar with the IgnitionDeck plugin. Unfortunately, as it’s a pay for plugin, I can’t just grab a copy and try to see how Limit Posts would integrate with it.

Can you give me some details about how you have tried to use Limit Posts with IgnitionDeck, or the ignition_product custom post type. I’m guessing that you’ve tried to use the LimitPosts shortcode on an IgnitionDeck form?

Any information which you could provide would be really useful.

    Thanks.
