Forum: Installing WordPress
In reply to: Can I just wipe and start again?Hi,
Thanks for making this easy to understand, I am not so technical.
I have just deleted and recreated my MySQL database and reconnected to it, only to find the wordpress files still in there, does this sound odd or am I getting the wrong end of the stick how this all works?

In reply to: Getting WordPress working with 1and1 (via FileZilla)Hey,
Thanks for the information, starting from scratch might be the way to go.
While your here I still seem to be having this annoying issue of my traffic.php file showing up on my site http://www.thecosybag.net, if I go into my website using http://www.thecosybag.net/home everything seems to work fine. Do I just ened to set up a redirect/forward so everything gets directed to the home page or is there a real problem here?

In reply to: Looking to start a new WP blog on my 1and1 domainHi Kostas123,
I have tried this but for some reason when I log in its logging in to the admin page for my other WordPress blog (on a different MySQL database) I have no idea what I have done wrong as I have followed the instructions step by step.

In reply to: Getting WordPress working with 1and1 (via FileZilla)ce_Kevin, thanks for getting back to me. I have created a brand new mySQL database so forgive be if this sounds stupid but would that not be blank?
Is it easier to install it into the same mySLQ database as my old one in a new folder?

In reply to: Getting WordPress working with 1and1 (via FileZilla)Hey,
Sorry its been a while. Kind of got things working now, the site works but only on the new directory I added e.g. /home if you go to the plain website address if still shows that file.
I have also tried to start another wordpress site on a different mySQL domain and I am getting a WordPress is already installed message, I have changed the table prefix to wp1_ so it should be a blank space with no install, right?
Thanks again
Dominic

In reply to: Getting WordPress working with 1and1 (via FileZilla)Of course! I got a friend to log in who can actually build websites from scratch and he updated one of his to test it, everything appeared to be working fine so I am sure your correct about there being a problem with a wordpress file.
I have deleted my mySQL database and I will start again from scratch this time putting the WordPress in the route directory instead of /home and pay careful attention to everything you have said.
I will report back here tomorrow with whats going on.
Thanks again
Dominic

In reply to: Getting WordPress working with 1and1 (via FileZilla)Sorry I did not get back to you sooner, I was away from my computer. Just looked in the .htcaccess file and there are no mentions to traffic.html or idex.php, both of those files are in a separate directly called /logs I wonder why they are showing up?

In reply to: Getting WordPress working with 1and1 (via FileZilla)Hi, I would prefer it to be http://www.thecosybag.net, I did try that before and got to the same stage as now and had the same problem, thats why I added a new directory hoping that would solve the problem.
I can still log in to the WP admin and see all the normal stuff, make posts ect but when I look at my site all I can see is the trafic.php file on my server.
I did not intentionally upload a back up file, this is a brand new site, I am not migrating from an older one.
Thanks again for getting back to me, I am very new to all this and its a little confusing.

In reply to: Getting WordPress working with 1and1 (via FileZilla)Thanks for your response ce_bradm. I am using a mySQL data base provided by 1and1 and connected to it via FileZilla. After putting in all my SQL details into FileZilla it connected fine and I could see my space with a few Log files such as Trafic.html, I created a new directory called home and installed WordPress into it, I completed the WordPress installation and it seemed to be working fine until I did my first post, all my site http://www.thecosybag.net/home is showing is the traffic.html page from my log.
I have not idea what I have done wrong and how I can fix it, any ideas?
I hope this was enough information to go on?
