In reply to: [Ultimate Category Excluder] Exclude from JetPack Subscriptions?Wow, that’s an interesting question. Is JetPack emailing subscribers when a new post is published in any category,e ben excluded ones? I’ll have to experiment with the two plugins to see what’s happening. Mike

In reply to: [Ultimate Category Excluder] Move post to non-excluded category?Hi Scott,
I believe that yes, that a moved post would then be visible. Everything is done in real-time, there is no caching or memory that it “used” to be in an excluded category. Mike

In reply to: [Ultimate Category Excluder] ultimate-category-excluder.0.8 not workingI’m trying to differentiate between the actual posts that are in each category, and the list of category names. UCE only blocks the appearance of the posts in the selected categories. It does not affect the listing of category names in widgets. If you only want a few categories to appear on your sidebar, you’ll either need to enter html code into a text widget; or craft the exclusions in your theme. Does that all make sense? I think I’m understanding what you’re trying to do now. If not, let me know.

In reply to: [Ultimate Category Excluder] ultimate-category-excluder.0.8 not workingThanks for your email. Wow, you have got a lot of categories. I think you’re using them wrong. From looking at the list, I think you are using them like tags. Categories are usually a bit more broad, such as “Technology” “Hardware” “Software” “Microsoft” “Apple”. Then you use tags to break the categories into smaller units. What you’ve got now is totally fine, it’s just not real helpful to the end user.
Regardless, the plugin should work fine. What categories are you trying to hide on the home page? Or on the archive page?

In reply to: [Ultimate Category Excluder] ultimate-category-excluder.0.8 not workingI’m sorry you’re having trouble. I think you are saying that the category names are displaying in widgets. Is that correct? Are the posts in those categories appearing on your site’s home page? On the archive pages?
What is your site’s URL so I can see exactly what you’re talking about. What version of PHP and MySQL is your server running? You might want to upgrade to WordPress 3.4.2, it fixes some bugs in WP 3.4.1. Send me an email if you don’t want to make your version info public.

In reply to: [Ultimate Category Excluder] [Plugin: Ultimate Category Excluder] Image bug?And what is the value of “x” that causes images to start to shift?

In reply to: [Ultimate Category Excluder] [Plugin: Ultimate Category Excluder] Image bug?The first thing to test would be to reactivate the UCE plugin. And then change your site’s theme to the 2011 theme. Does it still do weird things with the images? I’m assuming these images are a “Post Thumbnail”. If they aren’t, how are the images placed/generated on the page?
I’m sorry you’re having trouble. We’ll get it figured out. Mike

In reply to: [Client Status] Bug: client-status list nestingI figured out the problem a few days ago. I apologize for not updating this ticket. The sites that weren’t nesting correctly had some rules in the site’s .htaccess file that prevented external users from accessing the blog’s .php files inside the wp-content directory. I whitelisted the client-status data.php file and it started working.
So I guess the suggestion would be to have the main client-staus machine fail nicely when it can’t contact a client.

In reply to: [Tools for Twitter] Twitter Tools API compatibility?I’m wondering the same thing myself. My gut says that Twitter Tools won’t work after March 2013 when Twitter’s new rules go into place, but that’s just a guess.

In reply to: [Client Status] Bug: client-status list nestingNope, good guess though. All the sites are on the same server, same software versions, almost the exact same plugins. What else could I check?
Hmmm. You mean the archive month in the sidebar? I’m pretty sure that is built with a different WordPress function. Sorry I couldn’t be more specific.
I’m glad the plugin was useful for you. Mike
Thanks very much for your kind words. I’m glad you find it useful. Mike

In reply to: [FeedWordPress] [Plugin: FeedWordPress] iconv/mbstring warningI increased the PHP memory, and now several days later the problem came back. I restarted apache again, no help. Any other ideas?
