  • Extra feature added -I apprecaite it adds in a layer of security
    BUT No option to disable it – (what about sites with plugins that have this type of feature enabled) I want to be able to disable your feature, I do not wish to deactivate my chosen plugin to fit in with Jetpack.

    It is written in English,
    The WP site is using the French edition with our audience being 99.99% French native speakers. If your going to add on a feature, then you must proved a working translation that matches the sites language of theat site prefere language >50% of WP sites are no longer use english as their main language.
    I don’t see owners should have to do translation work for a feature n we didn’t ask – but i want the the very least an option to be able to translate the text for my vistors.

    Jetpack was registred with a French language based account –
    english is not used on the front end or backend.

    Thanks
    Sorry for the extra work.
    Baffled? I still have the issue with two Sites hosted at “1and1”

    The message I wish to use – Under the title is working fine.
    — I added a message to stop a common mistake with images, but still folks fail to read the Message and its advice…. ( Oh Humm… one can only try. ..).
    ______
    100% ok on Domains hosted at Dreamhost
    Tested with & with out Cloudfront activated.

    Marking as Resolved πŸ™‚

    fyi: Inspected element. When using plain text.
    ——-
    #poststuff h3 (wp-admin/edit.css line 605)
    added override to apti-css
    Line 1 = #poststuff h3 {
    font-size: 85%; (orig is 14px)
    padding: 8px 12px;
    margin: 0;
    line-height: 1.2; (orig line is 1.4)
    }

    this worked for me, & probably backward and forward compatable.
    Ok I know it’s not elegant. but not found any issues creating new posts/pages/comments/bbpress topics.

    Re Issue 1, “Add a title and save the draft, so that the slug…”
    Think about the workflow of new-post. you don’t have slug at that point, so I think another default method is going to be required if you wish to reduce or remove the padding.
    — I took a quick look at my workaround code,
    — It has the same padding issue (I never noticed before..humm )

    Issue, 2 It’s a generic thing,
    I agree on small fonts can be missed that’s why I used Color and <srong> as the visual pull.
    I ended up using h5 in the html for an attactive size.
    editor-style.css in my theme uses this
    h5 {
    font-size: 13px;
    font-size: 0.928571429rem;
    Hope this helps..

    Hiding stuff?
    If it worked in similar method to metaboxes, (where a users preferences are remembered by WP).
    For frequent posters – thats fine but for casual posters, i.e those who post say every 3-4 months – they will forget they hid the message(‘s) and it’s normal. These users kinda defeat the reason for the plugin, which is offers some quick tips’s (well in my case that it is).
    Have a think about your audience. Regular frequent bloggers versus casual posters.. maybe admins activate the ability to allow users to hide measages or they are forced visble to everyone. (or to various roles)

    I have the GIT plugin on a live site deactivated, still using my workaround, 2 reasons why
    1st I would prefer a full production plugin, (but the dev version is ok) & 2nd I need to talk and educate the blog owner about the plugin before she uses it. (she has some very strange rules about tips and messages = my problem.)

    Git Zip uploaded to dev site 20 dec 14
    No issues with published articles (on both WP4.01 or WP 4.1)
    all plugins then activated. (fully replicated the live site) No issues.

    Used html and plain text): Messages all appeared as per html code.
    — FYI.—
    Message under the title.
    Asthetic issue 1
    I would prefer to have less padding at the top margin
    it looks as if i had added in an extra <p></p> before my message text.

    Asthetic issue 2,
    IMHO, plain text size is little large without using html.

    great job,, Thanks for your efforts.

    I was thinking my localhost setup is part of the issue.
    new WP test site setup, waiting for DNS to propagate subdomain.
    I will test on WP4.1, + I have to do this anyway to make sure 4.1 does not screw up anu of the live sites.
    All live sites are WP standalone not WP network
    I will use native english WP, test and migrate over to french and test.
    I will then create the fr_FR.po / mo files.

    Enjoy the break.

    isn’t debugging fun, NOT πŸ™
    Basically I would use your plugin is to offer basic howto’s /info.
    For example with our the Magazine style front page the “feature image” is important, all of our authors seem to miss out this step, resulting in their front page article/post lacking that “visual read me pull”. The blog admins re-edit and add one for them (time and effort) So you can guess what my custom message contains.
    ———-
    Do i want default text inside the metabox? Maybe, the benefit is that it saves screen space over the static message. + I’d use html to add a basic image and some info text, (which i hope they would replace… !!)
    —-
    Would an extra metabox be better than a static message of standard text? (not sure to be honest, probably not) the one benefit is it would be visble to new users who need the instructions and older users could hide the metabox. So along with this idea, would it be possible to collapse the message to free up the writing space (think smartphone users) ?

    A thought has just popped into my head – have you tested your plugin with WP4.1 (with the focus plugin = distraction free writing ) not sure if this will change how your plugin functions.

    Thanks for the reply, have updated to 1.033 on localhost
    No change to missing content in new / old posts.
    same issue with various themes eg Twentyfouteen / Thwentyfifteen.
    same issue with WP4.01 (fully hosted site and localhost)
    deactivated all other plugins on localhost Wp4.01 and WP4.1 RC1
    Same issue with both Wp versions
    all using php version 5.4.34 fast-cgi

    await fix before reactivating (happy to beta test for you)
    (workaround = added a metabox message in child theme functions.php )
    but prefer this plugin, as other (none tech) admins can alter these messages. good luck.

    FYI: Install is using all the default settings. None changed.
    Using only text to display a message under title in Posts
    Pages etc not used.

    Hi – I have had the same issue with French translation.
    However i have the transaltion file that is live and working.

    Couple of things are needed.
    You need to create a .pot file (the .po included is out of date.)
    FYI; I have Version 3.0.4 installed, the .po included in the theme has 139 strings
    1, First I generated my own pot file and got 148 strings on my localhost
    2, I Install Plugin ” Loco Translate”
    Manage translation and save your .po & .mo in /libraries/languages
    For some reason It faIls to detect the Global translation
    Backup ASAP because if the Theme is updated you will loose your customised .pot .po and mo files..

    Hope this helps. I agree it’s a cool theme and a lot of time as gone into it. Shame about the apparent lack of support for the free version, based on this I don’t think I would pay $69 for the Pro version in the hope of getting better support.(IMHO)

    (@pix365)

    Resolved. (after a nights sleep)
    my process was as follows
    FTP the Pot file to my local machine;
    saw the NEXT sting was in there.

    I then used a plugin “Loco Translate” on hosted WP install (not localhost)
    I backed up your shipped 2.06 po and mo files. (I know it will overwrites these)
    I open Loco translate & open gce-fr_FR.po file
    clicked Sync Strings were removed and added
    Reporting 81% is translated a total of 129 strings (26 untranslated)
    BACK and NEXT strings are now listed;
    added my own translation to NEXT text. saved
    Pages displaying NEXT etc are using my french translation
    Hope this helps.
    I will now do the other 25 strings.
    I will place my edited files in /wp-content/languages/plugins/

    I have done some research – yes & it seems that it cannot be done using your inbuilt Custom menu.
    Best alternative is I think is a plugin to hide a widgets (only with Private pages) until after folks have logged in.
    I can continue to use only public Pages within the Superhero menu system.

    Thanks for the quick reply.
    FYI.. Mailpoet Cron was aready active.
    I add this just in case you get a few other tickect on this subject.)

    However no issues since this one off event.
    Running 5 test newsltters – 200 test emails each, scheduled to cause an overlap.
    None lost, no duplications.
    ———-
    & 100% agree a server Cron job is the safer option.
    I will get this setup today.
