In reply to: Why is Google Indexing This???Otto42, that worked perfectly! I added that line to my .htaccess file and it worked like a charm.
Thank you very much. Now there is a “Forbidden” message when trying to get to those folders.
I truly appreciate your help.

In reply to: Why is Google Indexing This???The blank index.php is there in the wp-content folder, so it does not prevent Google from indexing this folder. This is the NewsPortal theme and the latest update of WordPress.
I have an older version of WP using the Fleur theme and this is not an issue.
I will try to CMOD 750. Is anyone else having this issue?

In reply to: Strange Index.php in my wp-content folderActually, no it doesn’t prevent it. I just found my entire plugins folder being indexed even WITH this new index.php file in the content folder.
I know this is an old discussion, but I just found a theme with this same rouge file. It does NOT prevent the wp-content folder from being seen. Quite the contrary, I just did a site check on a recent blog I installed and the entire plugins folder IS indexed with this particular theme and also a separate blog with the same theme.
I checked a different WP theme blog and no indexing of these folders that shouldn’t be indexed in the first place.
