  • Hey,

thanks for the feedback/request, truly appreciate it! This will be implemented but we are sorry to say that we cannot give you a promise with a fixed date on when this will happen, since our development plans are already packed as it is at the moment.

Once again, thanks for feedback, take care and have a lovely day,
    Petra

    Hey,

thanks for getting back to me with the list of plugins and sorry for not replying any sooner. I have installed the “Broken Link Checker” plugin and it seems that this plugin makes “custom” links to those that it thinks are broken but actually are not. I have rechecked your blog and, correct me if I am wrong, you have found out the same thing and disabled the Broken Link Checker or just made some adjustments? I can’t find any “empty” thumbnails anymore – which is a good thing. But please do let me know if there is something I have missed.

Take care and have a nice day,
    Petra

    Hey,

thanks for getting back to me and for the link. Do you have anything particular in mind as far as those details go? For example, you can always set some extra details such as publish date, comments, excerpt,…in the plugin settings. Go to “Settings”-> “WordPress Related Posts”-> “Advanced Settings”-> “Customize”. But if you feel like it and want to change the php file, then the “init.php” file is the way to go. You can find it by going to “Plugins”-> “Editor”-> in the top right choose the plugin and the files should show up on your right.

Hope this helps, take care and have an amazing day,
    Petra

    Hey,

thanks for reaching out! Have you tried limit the number of related posts? For example to show only 3 – then the 3 most related will be shown (out of 10). More posts you will have, better the results.

Hope this helped, take care and have a lovely day,
    Petra

    Hey Chris,

thanks for reaching out! If we are thinking about the same thing then you can do this simply via “Settings”-> “Reading”-> “Blog pages show at most”. This way you get search results with multiple pages.

    Hey,

you will need to edit the “thumbnailer.php” file. Go to line 371 (get_post_meta($related_post->ID, $options[“thumbnail_custom_field”], true);) and change it like this:

    $thumbnail_src = get_field('my_personal_thumbnail_field', $related_post->ID); //get_post_meta($related_post->ID, $options["thumbnail_custom_field"], true);

-> my_personal_thumbnail_field is the name of the field you’d like to use for thumbnails – it’ll be hardcoded. Please note that this won’t be visible in the plugin settings but you still need to go there and tick the box next to “Use custom field for thumbnails”…it doesn’t matter which field you choose here in the drop-down menu.

We would like to point out that this is a hack and might have some unpredictable consequences, so unfortunately we cannot guarantee it will work under all circumstances (themes,…). And don’t forget, this change will be overwritten when you update the plugin!

    Hey,

thanks for getting back to me. The thing is we can’t replicate the issue on our side so we are trying to get as much as we can from both of those blogs but if I am not mistaken you don’t have Search Everything installed anymore (on the production side). So, other than the Ajax Lite plugin everything else is completely the same on both blogs? No template change, nothing? The only thing that maybe could be the issue then is the server but that is highly unlikely. To be completely honest we are running out of ideas so any additional information would be greatly appreciated.

Take care and have an amazing weekend,
    Petra

    Hey,

glad to hear it worked! But as far as your feature request goes…I must disappoint you, this will probably stay the same as it is (for the time being). Sorry! We do appreciate your feedback though.

Take care and have a lovely weekend,
    Petra

    Hey,

    we have updated the instructions.
Once again, thanks for the heads up!

    Hey,

thanks for the heads up to both of you, truly appreciate it! The fix will be implemented in our next release.

    Hey,

thanks for getting back to me – glad to hear you have found a workaround!

Take care and enjoy the weekend,

    Hey Misty,

thanks for reaching out! Is there anything different/new – e.g. new plugins, different way of inserting the images into the posts? Also, would it be possible to get a list of your plugins?

    Looking forward to your reply,
    Petra

Glad to hear it is solved!

Take care and enjoy the weekend 🙂

    Hey,

thanks for reaching out! Unfortunately no, you can’t filter them like that – at the moment you can only exclude a certain category, so that related posts don’t show up in those posts (from that category).
    Sorry for the inconvenience!

If there is anything else you would like to ask, do let me know – I’ll gladly help 🙂

Take care and have a lovely weekend,
    Petra

    Hey,

thanks for reaching out – if I am not mistaken you are using Jetpack? If so, go to Jetpack settings and deactivate the Related Posts. Check the screenshot for easier navigation.

Let me know how it goes, take care and have a nice day,
    Petra
