That’s what I was afraid of. There is no spam filtering on that account, so the mail must be going adrift somewhere along the way – out of my control at any rate. I guess I’ll just abandon that account and try with this one.

Unfortunately none of those solutions apply since the problem is the WordPress.org web site (the one we are on now) and no my own installation (which works fine). I need support for a plugin but couldn’t get it because I can’t log into this site.
