Perhaps this plugin could be used to create user galleries aswell? I’m trying to create a plugin where every user/member can have one or more folders with images and then display their galleries on their profile page.
I haven’t tried this but perhaps the “Extract IPTC” could be expanded to also write image description and such using

Perhaps this plugin can be integrated with CubePoints?
http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/cubepoints/I’m not very tech savy but they have an API so this should be fairly easy, I hope.
