Did you check the images folder path? (Other Options -> Image options).
In previous versions by default was wp-content/gallery/ ,but in the last update they changed to wp-content/uploads/sites/%BLOG_ID%/nggallery/

I had exactly same problem and the issue was there, I’ve changed the path again and now everything is working perfectly.
