Well I have worked around it for now. Thank you Chappie for the simple suggestion.
I’m still curious about how to make it behave like the featured posts on the front page, but at least it is working ok now on both mobie devices and pc.

Thanks a lot! I’m sorry for responding so late, but I ended up changing a lot as I learned more. I tried this out on my old child theme though, and it worked fine.
