A simple solution would be to integrate the plugin called “Page Links To”
Simply, make your post with the desires post picture.
Create a second post with the desired thumbnail image –> and use “Page Links To” functions at the bottom of the page to link to the other post.
Presto! You have your thumbnail that you wish to have, and when you select that thumbnail it will redirect to the other page with content.
Be sure to name the posts the same for the rollover & don’t categorize it!

Click on the specified Post you wish to have seen on your Front Page // and it will be the only ones added to loop-nav.
Then go to the right side inside Publishing options:
And check the box stating: Stick This Post to The Front Page.
