I don’t quite understand what filename I’m supposed to put in at the beginning…

my ftp client is not letting me change the permission on htacess the error is that chmod is only available on linux not windows? It never did that before, why now? anyway, thanks so much for your help!

Yeah! I think I figured it out, I chmoded them and changed the permissions I think they’re now set at 755? Is that alright? I hear all this stuff about security. Thanks so much for your help I really appreciate it.

I think I’m going to need it even simpler…I know it is important to secure your machine (oh, by the way thanks for the advice!) and (let me just say I’m a self taught computer hack and I only know what I know and not really what I need to know, if that makes any sense) what does it mean write the permissions of a file or folder? Do you do that in another mode or can you just do it through a browser like one for windows xp? Anyway, thanks so much.
