In reply to: permalinks & popup commentsactually … that almost worked. when i took it out, the permalink didn’t bring up the embedded comments but it didn’t have a link to the pop-up comments that were relative to the post either … i tried replacing the wp-comments.php in the line above with wp-comments-popup.php but it gave me an error.

Alls I want is to use popup comments and have it all uniform instead of the regular comments showing up when pulling up a single post via a permalink.

I’m good at adjusting things and even with css but raw php coding is not my forte! I don’t know why i’ve gotten on this kick with popup comments … maybe I think the conversation can be followed easier? I don’t know … anyway … it works great. thanks again.

i think the best thing that i’ve heard works is the ‘comment preview’ hack. i’ve had it up for about an hour and so far it has stopped when i was getting them heavily the hour before. I’ll know for sure if it stops the bot come morning. was an easy install and the extra step should stop an auto bot.

In reply to: how to block comment spammeri’ve been getting the same one over and over. Also one for texas-holdem poker. WP catches them for moderation but it still is a pain to have to go click them one by one and then delete. Even a “select all” button for deletion would make it not so bad. Definitely need something to flat out block someone like this from commenting after one is deleted.

In reply to: Scrolling VERY slowlyI can’t figure this one out. I use MacOS X and Firefox as primary browser. Funny thing is the slow scrolling for me happens on Firefox but not when I tried it on IE. I did try taking out the ‘bloglynx’ drop down menu but it had not effect.

In reply to: New Archive StructureI shall commence to trying. The only thing I don’t like about WP currently is the archive structure. If I could get this to work, it would be perfect. Hey, I am running WP .72. Will the hack still work? Also, if everyone does get stuck with the rewrite rules, then I am sure to do so also as I have no idea how to modify them!!!! HA … I’ll give it a go!

I very much want to get the months and months typical archive structure replaced with this hack that goes with a separate page. However, I’m afraid of bringing down my whole blog!

In reply to: archives – limit amount listed?I tried but could not get that solution to work. Of course, I am likely just placing the parameters you listed in the wrong area. Here’s the basic php code in my template that pulls up my archives:
<?php get_archives(‘monthly’);?>
It works just fine. I’m just not skilled enough to add what I want to add. I’d like it to list … say the first 12 months of archives then have a link that says something like “more” or whatever. When clicked, the entire archive list would be presented in the same area instead of just the first few that it was set for. I know it can be done as I’ve seen it in other blogs. I just frankly am to unskilled to get the job done. Will hopefully be able to rely on one or two of you guys/gals to help.
