Well, originally I just tried using Redirect so that must have caused the problem. I deleted all the other plugins and retried “specforceabs” but it still didn’t work. Then changed it to “specforceab” and it’s fine. Just wish I could get “specforceabs” to work.
OK, this is bizarre.
First of all, this is a new blog but I have used Pretty Link with no problems before. Also, I haven’t changed anything. Just setting everything up right now.
Second, I deleted the link and rebuilt it using the Pretty Link that was auto-generated. Then I clicked on the link and it works.
Third, I went back and edited the link to “specforcesabs” and saved it. Tried the link again but it’s broken just as before.
Then I repeated steps 2 and 3. Auto-generated link works. Custom link does not.
Other things I’ve tried:
Turned off Parameter Forwarding
Turned on Enable Permalink Fix
Tried every Redirection TypeForum: Reviews
In reply to: [XML Sitemap Generator for Google] Does what it's supposed to do.I agree. I use it on Goozleology San Diego SEO and it makes it possible for me to make sure that my pages and posts are indexed quickly and correctly. I know that Yoast has a built in feature but I turn it off and install Google XML Sitemaps because it works better.
I just checked and there are no blocked IPs. I don’t use the standard WP login address so that’s probably why I haven’t had any blocked yet. A hacker would have to guess the login address.
I’m using Namecheap for my hosting and I doubt that there’d only be a few people using Falcon on Namecheap.
I’ll have to check on the IP address but I don’t think that’s happened.
Thanks!
Update: Basic caching seems to be working fine but I really wish I could use the faster version. Also, I’m not sure that that was actually the solution because my host also changed the .htaccess file permissions to 444. That kind of toughened it up. And I did disable all other plugins but I still ran into the same problem.
OK, so I don’t have BPS installed but I did like 8 months ago.
I just got a 500 error again. So I just changed WF to basic caching and I edited the .htaccess file to basic WordPress.
Let’s see what happens.
Yeah, I’m running the most recent versions of WordPress and Wordfence. And I checked the older thread. Totally forgot about that one.
Anyhow, I’ve tried many different things with the .htaccess file. I’ve duplicated it, renamed the original and modified it. It gets rewritten.
I created a new, blank .htaccess file, deleted the old one. It gets rewritten.
As for BPS, I don’t remember which plugin he was referring to. It might have been BruteProtect which I just deleted since it was rolled into Jetpack and has been updated in 7 months.
I will try the basic caching as you suggest and see what happens.
Thanks!
Thanks Matt,
I did as you suggested and I couldn’t find any differences. So, I guess I’m good.
Thanks Tim! I emailed it to you again.
Hey Tim,
I sent you the htaccess file via email.
Regarding the memory, I think 32mb is allocated. And, like you said, I don’t think that’s the problem because I have now deleted the Wordfence plugin and my other site is working and I still can’t get in. Then again, I changed the name of the plugins folder so I don’t think it’s a plugin conflict either.
Also, I don’t think I blocked the login page on this site.
Thanks,
Ed
Hey Tim,
Thanks for the help.
Most importantly, the pic is from Point Break with the surfing Presidents.
Login redirect? I don’t think I used one for this site (goozleology.com) because I just switched the hosting. And if I would have, I would have set it up similar to http://mrstoked.com/wp-login.php which gives a 404 error when one tries to go to the wrong login page.
Regarding the htaccess file, I checked it and I can’t find any redirect code in it. Do you know of a way I can reset the default?
“Can you verify your wordpress server files are all intact?”
Do you mean the standard install files? If so, I checked them last night and then reuploaded all of the core files via FTP so they should be good.
One thing I tried and forgot to mention is that I tried changing the plugins folder name to deactivate all plugins. that didn’t work either.
Thanks,
Ed
