Yes and it’s all sorted now. I took a clone of the server and tried it out 🙂
So an export and import of the DB is definitely required? Even if I’m only FTPing up the new WP files and not actually running the install?
Oh, I thought I marked this as resolved.
The group and owner were root/root. I chown’d the theme and it’s loading ok now but there are still a few inherit problems. I’ve resigned myself to install a fresh WP site anyway, it could do with it 🙂
