I have been using Godaddy for years now and am very happy with their service. I have just registered a blog and have to admit I couldn’t quite install the wordpress manually on my own. But I didn’t have to! Godaddy can install the wordpress for you with just a click of the button. Check out the following link for further info: http://help.godaddy.com/article.php?article_id=834
I don’t know about the other problems that others are facing here but my installation and so far use of wordpress with godaddy hosting has been a breeze.
