Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Unable to view or moderate commentsOk, so I need to do this…I guess. I think, maybe…BUT the last time I played in my database, well the whole thing crashed. Bang — blog gone — Yahoo had to reset the site. So, I am slightly anxious about doing this again. IS there some one who could walk me through this, like break it down for me Barny style> Someone I would like consider to be…oh akin to a God….
Thanks,

In reply to: RSS feed doesn’t work., error messageSo, after hours of searching for answers. I know what is CAUSING the rss to create an error message. There is an extra line before the code…somewhere. When I load my blog and view source there is indeed an extra line — which I will gladly delete. But I have opened several files and not found the matching code.
As I had edited no files prior to discovering this issue, I am unsure how the problem was created…but I really want to fix it.
Could someone PLEASE give me some direction? Please?
Mel

I re-pasted my new post from notepad and not word. and now all is well. Go figure!
Ok I lied. I am still getting the error message when I click on the RSS links on my blog, although it is now sending the feed to my facebook page.

In reply to: WordPress, SQL, Yahoo…crash[resolved] Sort of, I guess. Yahoo has stripped & reset my site — now I just need to ftp the latest wordpress.
I have copied the existing wp-config from the site to my hard drive and will ftp that as well — that’s the way I should do it, right?

In reply to: WordPress, SQL, Yahoo…crashI installed into the same database — and both blogs worked late last night. This morning I ftp-ed the upgrade (being careful to set the parameters in the config file)
Backed up BEFORE I can SEE the back up — and I click on the restore back up…but nothing happens.
More than recovering what I have lost, I am interested in creating the new blog — which I am unable to do. I cannot install a new blog.

In reply to: WordPress, SQL, Yahoo…crashI have a back up that I did from WITHIN the sql admin panel — last night — but I don’t know what to do with it.
How would I get cached pages from google — and how would I restore the database using them?
