MikeDo you have access to phpMyAdmin or some other way to access your database?
You need to go there and find the table “wp_ngg_pictures”. In that table, edit the field “image_slug”. With phpMyAdmin you just check the box saying “NULL” and things should be ok.

I had the same problem – after the update I couldn’t upload images.
For me the solution was to allow the field image_slug in the pictures table to be NULL.
Works like a charm now 🙂
