If you are okay with having a page rather than the latest post on the home page, then the error will go. This can be done from settings-reading and you should opt static home page and select any page that you want on front page

I have been searching all over the internet on how to embed a slideshow as header. I tried a number of codes and only yours WORKED !. Thanks for the code and if possible, let me know whether I can change the width and height of the above given template code.

I tried a number of combinations for height and width but ends up with the code showing up in page
my gallery is [slideshow=2] and tell me what should be added with that to get a slideshow of 500px height and 700px width
