I also switched to Google Drive for my backups (thank you for the suggestion) and it is working as it’s supposed to. I’m giving up on the Dropbox thing for now. Bummer that we haven’t gotten any response from anyone who might actually be able to fix the problem.
Hi Bryle!
Yes, that’s what started this whole thing, finding out that my Dropbox account ran out of space.
I have since been manually deleting older backup files, so my account no longer runs out of space. The problem still remains that UpdraftPlus is not automatically deleting most of the older files. As noted above, the “plugins” file is getting deleted while the others are not.
Here is the current log file:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/sxj9muzsy8b63ix/Updraft_log.77b47871ca17.txt?dl=0And I just noticed that these lines actually show what’s going on:
0101.150 (0) Delete file: backup_2020-04-18-1751_All_Electric_Project_126599ebc9c7-plugins.zip, service=dropbox
0101.151 (0) Delete file: backup_2020-04-18-1751_All_Electric_Project_126599ebc9c7-themes.zip, service=dropbox
0101.152 (0) Delete file: backup_2020-04-18-1751_All_Electric_Project_126599ebc9c7-uploads.zip, service=dropbox
0101.153 (0) Delete file: backup_2020-04-18-1751_All_Electric_Project_126599ebc9c7-uploads2.zip, service=dropbox
0101.154 (0) Delete file: backup_2020-04-18-1751_All_Electric_Project_126599ebc9c7-others.zip, service=dropbox
0101.159 (0) Dropbox: request deletion: backup_2020-04-18-1751_All_Electric_Project_126599ebc9c7-plugins.zip
0101.739 (0) Dropbox: delete succeededThe “request deletion” command is only for the plugins.zip file. So something is wrong with UpdraftPlus in that it’s not requesting the other files also be deleted. Am I reading that right?
Any insight you can provide and suggestions on how to fix this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
-MarcyUpdate: Looking more closely at the files, it appears to be deleting older copies of the plugins file, but not the other 4 (uploads, uploads2, themes, others).
I’m still having the same issue as well.
The current log file for my account:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/1gmfjc0n13fl6rq/Updraft_log.2304dd264979.txt?dl=0Within the log file I see lines like:
0147.361 (0) Examining (for files) backup set with nonce=2bfa72f91c6a, datestamp=1586903537 (Apr 14 2020 22:32:17)
0147.361 (0) plugins: over retain limit (1); will delete this file entity
0147.362 (0) Delete file: backup_2020-04-14-1732_All_Electric_Project_2bfa72f91c6a-plugins.zip, service=dropbox
0147.367 (0) Dropbox: request deletion: backup_2020-04-14-1732_All_Electric_Project_2bfa72f91c6a-plugins.zip
0147.984 (0) Dropbox: delete succeededHowever, the delete did not actually succeed.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for the help, Bryle!
Let’s see if this link works for the backup log file I uploaded to Dropbox:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/4leaqp1o2z56lwo/Updraft_log.d8155cb2893f.txt?dl=0A couple things:
– I’ve changed the settings in WordPress to retain only 1 (instead of 2) scheduled backup of the files and the database, to see if that might help.
– I deleted most of the older files in Dropbox because I was running into space limitations (I’m on the free plan). It should be more clear within a day or 2 whether the change to the settings fixed the problem or not.But if you can see anything in the log file that would help, I’d greatly appreciate your taking a look.
Thanks again,
-Marcy
