I am not using any plugin for writing tags. I write it myself. The issue is that tag is not picking the listings which it is tagged with. It is showing the latest listings. A couple of days it was working fine.

Yes, this is what I am using, but the focus keyword is now showing up in Google search results. Google is showing the term title. This is my issue. It should show the focus keyword. This problem is with the categories in my website. I am using the same variables for the tags which is working fine. So the issue is with categories.
Yes, This is exactly what I want. I want the focus keyword to appear in Google searches, not Term Title. Then only the focus keyword option is relevant. But here in my case, the term title appears in Google SERPs instead of the focus keyword. The variables I am using are in this order for categories.
Focus keyphrase >Page > Separator> Site Title.
I would appreciate if you could share a video tutorial on the best practices to use Yoast Seo for categories and tags. I have seen the available videos which are on general settings.
Or, if it is just because I am using the free version and the results are not up to mark, I will upgrade to the premium version.

Have you tried it with the categories. I have the same issue with categories. You said writing the title manually helps in the SERPs. How much time it took to appear in google SERPs? I have just tried writing the titles manually yesterday but nowhere in SERPs so far.

Thanks for the reply. I have different categories in my local directory website like Architects, Financial Advisors, Property Dealers, etc. Currently, my categories are appearing like Categories>>Architects or Categories>> Financial Advisors, etc. Since there is a focus keyword field, I want the categories to show as ” Top architects in [my city name} or Best Financial Advisors in [My city name]. This is all I want. This happens to every category. This will increase my CTR. This is not a problem with tags. Tags are working fine and the focus keyword is shown in SERPs.

Thanks for the reply. Currently Im using [ focus keyphrase | page| separator | site title ] for categories. You mean to say I should use these variables [ categories | page | Separator | site title ]. What is the correct way to show focus keyphrase for categories? Kindly advise.
