    For emails to be sent upon a new article being posted, I personally recommend Subscribe2. There are a lot of settings, but that’s a good thing – it’s quite detailed in what you can control. If you need help getting it set up, please either contact the plug-in author or start a new thread.

    Okay, I finally figured out that WordPress.com offers the “Reply to comment via email” setting, not WordPress.org, which is what I’m using. Out of all of the searching I did, I saw almost no mention of distinguishing the issue between the .org and the .com versions.

    That’s a bummer.

    While I don’t fully understand mail servers, I realize now that the issue lies in the fact that the WP.org installation is hosted on a different server – the WP.com blogs are hosted on WP servers, so they can control the email flow.

    Does anyone know of a plug-in that will allow me to do this on a WordPress.org installation?
