This plugin has options for handling subscription based products/orders. Membership related actions are not handled by this plugin.
Please check by doing “Process Renewal” and check whether the payment is happened for newly created order. Also, please share the PayPal payment plugin (zip/link) that you are using, so we can check.

In reply to: [Subscriptions for WooCommerce] orders moving to hold and not chargingThis problem may be due to WooCommerce Inventory feature which by default cancel orders that remain in pending status for more than the specified time. This can be solved by
Disabling the Manage Stock and/or
Delete the specified time interval under Hold stock (minutes) field (set to 60 min interval by default by WooCommerce)
These options are available under the “WooCommerce > Settings > Products > Inventory”.
Unless you are using the stock management there is no reason to enable the Manage Stock options under inventory. Even if you enable it make sure that default time interval is removed. This will allow the payment gateway vendors like Paypal or Stripe to process the payment automatically as per the vendor configurations without conflicting with the default setting.

The workaround for this is to make the on-hold subscription ( due to payment failure ) to active and process renewal. We will check the possibilities of including retry failed payment in future.
